Workshop “Israel – Palestine – Germany” in Augsburg
On September 30, 2025, the Research Center for Religious Diversity conducted a workshop titled “Israel – Palestine – Germany: A Multifaceted Relationship” for full-time integration guides and refugee and integration advisors from the government district of Swabia in Augsburg.
The event was initiated and organized by Ms. Margot Laun, integration guide for the City of Augsburg, who welcomed around 20 participants to the Zentrum für Interkulturelle Begegnung (Center for Intercultural Encounter) on the grounds of the former tram depot.
Through lectures and interactive sessions, participants engaged with the various historical narratives that shape the identities of Israelis, Palestinians, and Germans. They gained an overview of the political geography of the Middle East and the growing significance of religion in politics through the use of maps. The participants explored the diverse political, cultural, and religious landscape of Israel and dived in the complexities of defining and statistically recording antisemitism and Islamophobia.
The team from the Research Center was thrilled by the stimulating questions and the engaged exchange among the participants, which, as expressed by all, should continue.
Additionally, it was a great pleasure to have Mr. Federico Posch, a government councilor from the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, Sport and Integration, and Mr. Wolfgang Klink from the government of Middle Franconia attend the workshop and take the time for a constructive exchange.
The Research Center’s participation occurred as part of the project “Keep the Dialogue, Despite the Conflict,” which is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, Sport and Integration.
