Director of the Research Center for Religious Diversity signs ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ with Manara Regional Center for Coexistence in Abu Dhabi

The director of the Research Center for Religious Diversity, Prof. Dr. Mathias Rohe, in his capacity as spokesperson for the Center for Islam and Law in Europe (EZIRE) at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Manara Regional Center for Coexistence in Abu Dhabi.

The Memorandum, which specifically aims at collaboration in the field of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, was established during a three-day trip that Prof. Rohe undertook with the Bavarian State Minister of the Interior, Sports, and Integration, Mr. Joachim Herrmann. The Research Center for Religious Diversity at FAU, funded by the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, is set to be involved in this collaboration.

Hermann welcomed the agreement as “an important contribution to deepening the dialogue between cultures and religions” adding that “the goal of the memorandum of understanding is to jointly work on initiatives for a more intensive interreligious and intercultural dialogue,” Our Minister stated that “the focus is on fostering greater understanding and tolerance for one another in order to achieve a more peaceful coexistence.” He expressed his gratitude to the director of the Center for Islam and Law in Europe, Prof. Dr. Mathias Rohe, and the director of the Manara Regional Center for Coexistence, Bakhita Al Rumeithi, for their firm commitment.
